If only life could be more like our favorite sitcoms. If this were the case, our friends would always be free to hang out, work would be a lot more fun, and our families would be hilariously quirky — rather than just outright weird. Unfortunately, life isn’t always a laugh-a-minute endeavor, which is why it’s nice to unwind with a sitcom after a long day of work or school.
While there is never any shortage of new shows to check out on TV or online, many people have a habit of rewatching their favorite sitcoms on repeat. Sometimes, it’s nice to revisit a familiar place with familiar characters — rather than digging into something new or something without as many laughs.
Certain TV comedies — like The Office, Friends, and Parks and Recreation — seem like they’re destined to be popular forever. We'd certainly love to spend a day in working at Dunder Mifflin, grab a coffee at the Central Perk, and go on a walk through one of Pawnee, Indiana's finest parks. While these activities may never be a reality, there is certainly no shortage of things to do in life. So let's play a game of "Never Have I Ever" to discover which beloved sitcom character we're most like!
Never have I ever… pulled an all-nighter.
There are plenty of reasons to stay up all night long. Whether it be to hang out with friends or to prepare for the big test, sometimes there simply isn’t enough time to get things done during the day. Therefore, one might resort to staying awake during the wee hours of the night. Of course, missing out on a good night’s sleep is bound to take its toll on a person — meaning you might not feel quite yourself come sunrise. But that’s nothing an extra cup of coffee can’t fix, right?
Never have I ever… ridden a motorcycle.
It’s no secret that riding a motorcycle comes with its fair share of risks. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not an experience that still can’t be enjoyed safely. Even if you never have plans to ride or own one yourself, you might have a friend or a family member who invites you along for a ride at some point. So would you join them? Maybe you have already. Or maybe this is one means of transportation that you will gladly steer clear of forever.
Never have I ever… missed a flight.
There’s a reason that many people stress over traveling. Not only is the idea of flying in a plane intimidating to many, but having to get to the airport on time can often be stressful enough as it is. Because many flights depart early in the morning, no doubt some people have found themselves sleeping past their alarm and missing their flight. But this isn’t like missing the morning bus, as plane tickets can often cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.
Never have I ever… pretended to be on a talk show.
If you’ve ever found yourself using the bathroom and forget to bring your cell phone along for the ride, you may have also found yourself engaging in some daydreaming. Some people like to fantasize about being on a talk show, where they get to tell their life story or a funny anecdote to the host. While this may seem like an unproductive way to spend one’s time to some, sometimes daydreaming is one of the best ways to realize what you’re passionate about.
Never have I ever… gotten detention.
For many students, the last thing they want to do when the final bell of the day rings is to continue to hang out at school. But sometimes, these students don’t have a choice. This is especially the case if you’ve ever found yourself getting sent to detention. While it’s usually never a good thing to find yourself in detention, it does force a lot of students to get their homework done right after school — meaning you can actually enjoy yourself when it’s time to finally go home.
Never have I ever… read an entire book in one sitting.
Some people absolutely love getting lost in the pages of a book. But have you ever gotten so absorbed in a story that you had to finish it in one go? Those who grew up reading the Harry Potter series can no doubt remember the hype of each new installment hitting shelves. But reading a novel in one go — especially a lengthy one — is somewhat of a serious undertaking. So have you ever felt compelled to do it? Or are you the type of person who needs a break no matter how compelling the story may be?
Never have I ever… binge-watched an entire TV season in one weekend.
Alright, so maybe you’ve never felt compelled to read a book in one sitting. But that still doesn’t mean you haven’t done the equivalent with a TV series. With streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu now dropping entire seasons of shows all at ones, it can be hard to resist falling headfirst into a beloved series. So have you ever spent an entire weekend in front of your TV or computer screen getting caught up on a favorite show or a new hit?
Never have I ever… used a public toilet without a seat cover.
There are some people who prefer to only ever use their own bathroom. And then there are those who seem like they can use any bathroom at any time without even thinking twice about it. While it might help to know that there’s a toilet seat cover protecting you from the same seat that complete strangers have been using, not all public restrooms have these covers. And when they do, you might find that there are aren’t any left for you. So have you ever gone without one?
Never have I ever… gone LARPing.
For some people, LARPing may be their go-to weekend activity. But other people may have absolutely no idea what it is. So for those who might not know, LARPing is the term for live action role-playing. It’s an activity where people get together and pretend to go on an adventure. It’s often set in a “fantasy” world where friends go on missions with one another while competing against other sides and obstacles. So does this sound like something you might be in to? Or does it seem a bit nerdy for your taste?
Never have I ever… won a game of Scrabble.
Some people may think that you need to know a ton of lengthy words if you want to ever win a game of Scrabble. However, the majority of the words that end up on a Scrabble board are usually pretty short. Therefore, winning comes down to not just your vocabulary, but your ability to place words in advantageous spots. Getting some letters with higher points certainly doesn’t hurt either, and this part comes down to pure chance. So have you ever won a game?
Never have I ever… broken a bone.
Most people will end up breaking a bone at some point in their life. While it’s never a fun experience to physically break the bone, it’s often partaking in a fun activity that often leads to said break — such as playing sports or going skiing or snowboarding. Many breaks are so minor that people might not even realize that they’ve broken anything at all. Instead, it could just feel like a jammed wrist or a stubbed toe. But if the pain persists, it’s certainly worth having looked at by a professional.
Never have I ever… made plans for the zombie apocalypse.
The zombie apocalypse will probably never happen. But that hasn’t stopped many people from making plans for an outbreak anyway. Sometimes, it can be fun to imagine what you would do in a survival situation like this… even if it would be absolutely zero fun should the event ever actually come to pass? So have you ever outlined a plan should the deceased suddenly rise up from their graves and attack? Or does this sound like a complete waste of one's time?
Never have I ever… learned how to play chess.
Chess is not the easiest game to learn how to play. It’s also one of the hardest games — if not, the hardest — to learn how to master. But that shouldn’t stop you from trying to learn. Playing even just one game of chess with a friend or a family member can be a great mental exercise. It forces the player to always be thinking a few steps ahead, while also trying to anticipate the moves of their opponent. So have you ever learned how to play?
Never have I ever… used someone else's answers on a test!
While we certainly wouldn’t condone taking another person's test answers, that doesn’t mean that most people won’t partake in it at some point in their lives. Whether it be during a board game or a school test, sometimes it can be very tempting to want to perform better than you otherwise would. This can be especially true of children, who might not realize the full consequences of this action. But hopefully, this is a habit that most people grow out of the older they get.
Never have I ever… changed a flat tire.
Fixing a flat tire is one of the easiest maintenance jobs that one can perform on a car. However, it may still seem like a very intimidating task to some. While you certainly have to be safe will changing out the tires on your automobile, this is something that can be performed in just a matter of minutes if you know what you’re doing. It can also save you a ton of money in the long run if you don’t have to rely on a mechanic when it comes to fixing every little thing that goes wrong with your car.
Never have I ever… laughed at a joke I didn’t understand.
While we all like to feel like we’re in on the joke, sometimes that’s simply not the case. The longer you have a relationship with someone, the more likely you are to develop inside jokes with one another. So maybe you’ve found yourself on the other side of an inside joke but still ended up laughing at the confusing punchline anyway. Or maybe you simply didn’t get the joke on the first go around, but still ended up cracking up with everyone else. After all, laughter unto itself can sometimes be funny enough.
Never have I ever… kept a journal/ diary.
Have you ever felt compelled to chronicle your day-to-day life in a journal or a diary? It can be fun to look back at these entries years later to see just exactly what you were up to. However, this feels like a trend that is continuously falling off with younger generations. After all, people have a ton of new ways to chronicle what’s going on in their life. So now, seeing what you were up to on a particular day years ago can be accomplished with just a few clicks and scrolls.
Never have I ever… eaten an entire pizza myself.
Plenty of people would probably agree that pizza is one of the best foods in the world. This is no doubt because pizza is a highly customizable option, as there is no shortage of different styles of pizza or different toppings that you can put on them. So if you’re a pizza enthusiast, you’ve no doubt stumbled upon to certain pizzas that are head and shoulders above the rest. But has that ever you compelled you to order one of your favorite pizzas and eat the entire thing by yourself?
Never have I ever… hiked a mountain.
Not only is hiking great exercise, but it can also be a way to experience some of the most beautiful views in the world. There’s also an extreme sense of accomplishment that can come with summiting a peak. So have you ever felt compelled to get out into the great outdoors and actually take on a mountain? If you ever decide to, it’s certainly helpful to do a little research beforehand and find out the exact conditions of the trail you plan to hike.
Never have I ever… watched a scary movie at night alone.
The last few years have been great for scary movie enthusiastic. Many of Stephen King’s most beloved stories are finally getting big-budgeted adaptations. While new voices, like Jordan Peele, are offering up a totally new take on the genre — one that is often subject to its fair share of tropes and cliches. All of this can make for some truly scary movie-watching experiences. So have you ever been brave enough to fire up one of these movies and watch it alone… at home… at night?
Never have I ever… pretended to host a cooking show.
Unless you’re someone who is very passionate about cooking or baking, making meals for yourself day in and day out can become a very tedious and repetitive process. So have you ever been making a meal for yourself and pretended to host a cooking show during the process? Sometimes, pretending to be sharing your knowledge about something with someone else can make things a lot more entertaining. Not to mention that you might find yourself getting creative during the process.
Never have I ever… spent the night in my car.
If you’ve ever found yourself on a long road trip or an ill-planned camping expedition, you may have been faced with spending the night in your car. While it’s not necessarily the safest or most comfortable option out there, it is a way to save a lot of money. And, it might actually be more comfortable than the alternative. For instance, maybe your only other option is sleeping on the cold, hard ground of a tent. So have you ever spent the night in a car?

A lot of waiters depend upon the tips they receive to make a livable income. In fact, many people might not even realize that a lot of people working in the restaurant industry aren’t even paid minimum wage. But not only does tipping help servers earn more money, but it’s also a way for customers to let the business know how they’re doing. So have you ever had a dining experience that was so bad that you left the staff absolutely no tip beyond with the bill?

Sometimes, the best summer nights are the ones spent around a fire pit with friends. Even with all the proper tools, building a good fire can often be a challenge. But have you ever tried to go without a lighter or matches to make a fire using a magnifying glass? It’s an old trick that many of us probably watched when we were kids. Throwing a ball down an alley and knocking over ten pins might not sound all that challenging. That is, until you’ve actually tried to do it. Bowling may be an easy game to pick up, but it can certainly be a hard one to master. Of course, that doesn’t mean you still can’t just go to the bowling alley to have a good time with friends. Though it seems like fewer and fewer people are heading to their local allies these days.
Never have I ever… learned a second language.
Most students will have to take a foreign language while in middle and high school. But once they graduate, many won’t continue to learn this second language. But knowing how to speak something other than your native tongue can certainly come with its fair share of advantages. It can allow you to travel to different parts of the world with ease. And it could also open the door for a number of job opportunities that you wouldn’t otherwise have. So did you decide to stick with it?
Never have I ever… fantasized about quitting my job.
Most people will find themselves in a job they can’t stand at some point in their life. While these can be frustrating and lead to an overall lack of motivation, this could actually be a good time to get out there and figure out what you’d rather be doing for a living. Fantasizing about quitting the lackluster job can also be a good motivator, as it might make you more apt to start getting in applications elsewhere so you can make this daydream a reality.
Never have I ever… gone skiing/snowboarding.
If you live in a part of the world that experiences a long winter, you may find yourself getting pretty sick and tired of being cooped up inside during these cold months. But one simple solution to this could be taking up a winter activity, such as skiing or snowboarding. Not only are these great ways to get outside during the winter months, but they can also be a ton of fun and a good source of exercise. However, both activities also come with their fair share of risks.
Never have I ever… invited someone to eat lunch with me.
Being the new kid at school or work can be pretty tough. Often, you end up walking into an environment where everyone is already separated into their individual groups and cliques, leaving you feeling like the odd man/ woman out. So have you ever seen somebody in one of these situations and invited them to eat lunch with you? It may seem like a small move on your part, but it might mean a ton to them — even if you all don't end up being friends in the long run.
Never have I ever… asked someone out in person.
These days, there is no shortage of ways to ask someone out, whether it be through a dating app or a simple text message. But only just a short while ago, there were really only a few ways to ask a person out on a date, and it usually involved doing so in person or over the phone. This may seem like an uncomfortable prospect to many, as it could make getting turned down that much more embarrassing. But it could also make you seem a lot more courageous and desirable in the process.
Never have I ever… seen a ghost.
While people will continue to debate whether or not ghosts are actually real, that doesn’t stop the fact that many people have said that they’ve seen him. While some people will be quick to judge those who claim to have had a brush with the supernatural, whose to say what someone else’s experience was really like? Maybe you thought you’ve seen a ghost at some point in your life. And even if you haven’t, that still doesn’t mean that you can’t believe that they exist.
Never have I ever… played poker.
Playing poker requires a number of different skills if you ever want to excel at the game. These include a knowledge of the game, a mind for math, and the ability to read others, just to name a few. Not to mention the fact that if you have a bad poker face, you’re never going to be able to bluff your opponents. So have you ever played a game of poker with friends or family? Or does the idea of betting money over a card game not appeal to you?
Never have I ever… had a conversation with my pet.
Plenty of people talk to their pets when they call out their name or give them commands. But these are things that animals can actually understand with enough practice and repetition. What they cannot understand, however, is if you launch into a full-blown conversation with the animal. That being said, many pet owners have no doubt carried on a one-sided conversation with their pets. But so long as you’re not expecting a legible response, there’s certainly nothing wrong with it.
Never have I ever… stood up to a mean person.
No one likes a mean person. But if you thought that you were going to be done with them when you graduated from high school, then you are sorely mistaken. Bullies are everywhere, meaning you’re bound to come across one’s path at some point in your life. While most people may find it easier to try and avoid them altogether, sometimes these people need to be reprimanded for their actions — whether that means standing up to them yourself or altering an authority figure.
Never have I ever… ridden a horse.
We see people ride horses all the time on TV and in movies that it can be easy to take this skill for granted. But if you’ve ever found yourself sitting atop one of these massive animals, you might have instantly grown newfound respect for those who appear to do it with ease. Riding a horse certainly comes with its fair share of risks, and it’s certainly not something that should be taken up lightly. So have you ever ridden one?

These days, there is no shortage of stand-up specials to watch online. But there’s usually a big difference between watching a stand-up comedian through the screen and actually venturing out to a theater or a comedy club to watch one live. While the acts might be not nearly as polished when watching in person, you might realize just how much funnier it is when you're surrounded by hundreds of other people who are laughing right along with you. Texting the wrong person might not be a big deal if you’re just trying to see what they’re up to for the day. But it could be a big problem if you were in the middle of a personal conversation with them. If you’re the type of person who has multiple chats and group messages going on at once, it can be very easy to get your strings crossed. So have you ever found yourself having to explain an awkward text message?
Never have I ever… lost my keys for good.
We’ve all misplaced our keys at some point or another. Whether they've slipped into the couch or fell behind your seat at the movie theater, re-finding these keys is usually just requires a few minutes of searching or using a flashlight to help you see. However, losing your keys for good is a different story entirely. This can lead to days of searching in frustration before one must inevitably go about replacing ever key and keychain device that they once owned — which can be no easy task.
Never have I ever… traveled to another country.
Sometimes the best way to learn something new about the world is to get out there and explore. But when it comes to learning about a new country, this is certainly much easier said than done. Traveling abroad is often expenses and requires a lot of planning in advance. But people often come back from these trips with memories that last a lifetime as well as a new perspective on the world. Never have I ever… ridden my bike to work.
When you’re a kid, sometimes the bike is your only hope of getting somewhere on your own. But the older we get, the more we depend on cars and public transportation to get us where we’re going. Therefore, the idea of taking your bike to work might seem like a huge hassle. But not only would riding your bike be a good way to exercise, it’s also better for the environment. Not to mention that it would also save you money on gas. That's a triple win! So have you ever done it?
Never have I ever… shown up at a party I wasn’t invited to.
Sometimes, just going to a party can be intimidating enough as it is. But have you ever actually shown up to a party you weren’t invited to? If you have a mutual friend and you know there’s going to be a bunch of other people there, it might not be a huge deal to just tag along. But if it’s a small get together and you weren’t extended an invite by the host, then showing up could be a very awkward endeavor indeed.

With Uber and Lyft becoming available pretty much everywhere, many forms of public transportation aren’t being used nearly as much as they used to. That being said, limos are often a special endeavor. People tend to only use them for very specific celebrations — such as going to prom or getting married. However, they’re also one of those extra expenses that can easily be avoided. So have you ever ridden in one? Or is this the type of extravagance that you've so far avoided?

Unless you consider yourself a bit of an artist, then the idea of spending a day looking at someone else’s artwork may have never even occurred to you. Art galleries certainly aren’t for everyone. That being said, no two art galleries are the same. So even if you’re not the type of person who wants to sit around trying to interpret abstract art, that doesn’t mean you might not be interested in an art museum that has a greater emphasis on history and traditional art styles.
Never have I ever… built a fort out of pillows and blankets as an adult.
Most kids have built a fort or two at some point in their lives. Often, the best way to do so is by deconstructing the entire living room and using ever cushion, blanket, and pillow that’s at your disposal. But this is something that we seem to do less and less the older we get. So have you ever taken a trip down memory lane as an adult by making a fort? It just might be the ideal place to escape and binge watch that show you’ve been waiting all week for.
Never have I ever… visited a fortune teller.
Even if you’re someone who believes that there are individuals out there who have the ability to look into the future, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’d be more likely to visit a fortune teller. After all, knowing your future might some like a bit of a curse than a blessing. But on the other hand, if you think that there’s no way people can look into the future, that doesn’t mean that having an interaction with a “fortune teller” still couldn’t be a worthwhile experience.
Never have I ever… accidentally thought someone was waving to me.
Ever see someone waving in your direction and decide to wave back only to discover that they were trying to say hi to the person behind you? It can certainly be an embarrassing experience, but it’s one that many people will find themselves in during at least one point in their lives. So if it ever happens to you, just know that it’s happened to the best of us and there’s nothing wrong with thinking that someone was just trying to say hi.
Never have I ever… sung karaoke.
It’s often said that public speaking is one of the most daunting issues that arise amongst people. But what about public singing? This probably doesn’t end up on the list because it’s not something that most people would ever be expected to partake in. However, there are those who are very confident in their musical abilities, which might mean that a night at a karaoke bar could sound like a great time. But for most people, it might seem like a nightmare.
Never have I ever… spent all day in my pajamas.
There are few better ways to feel like an unproductive slob than spending the entire day in your pajamas. But sometimes, you just need to take a day to yourself and relax. If you’ve spent all week working hard and are burnt out, or maybe even under the weather, then spending all day in comfy clothes may seem like just the thing you need. Or maybe you’re the type of person that still needs to shower and get dressed even when they’re trying to kick back and relax?
Never have I ever… practiced dancing alone in my room.
Much like singing, dancing is another one of those activities that make many people feel uncomfortable. However, most of us will find ourselves attending an event where dancing is commonplace at some point in our lives. Whether it be a high school dance or a wedding, you may find yourself getting asked out to the dance floor at one of these events. In which case, it’s always best to come prepared. So have you ever practiced dancing alone, maybe in front of a mirror or a camera to see how you look?
Never have I ever… fired a bow.
It’s been a long time since most people have had to head out into the wilderness to catch their food. Therefore, there’s little need to ever fire a bow these days. Yet, there are many people who still enjoy hunting. It’s a good way to know exactly where your food is coming from, not to mention that it’s a good way to get out and enjoy nature. Meanwhile, there are those who fire bows simply because they enjoy the sport. Or because they’re trying to save the world, as is the case with Hawkeye.
