Play 'Marry Or Divorce' With These Marvel Beauties And Get One For A Wife

With Captain Marvel, the MCU has finally let a female superhero take the lead in one of their movies. The film is Marvel Studios' first release of 2019, which also happens to be their 21st movie overall in a franchise that is now over a decade old. While the MCU still has a long way to go to improve the role that women play in their movies, that’s certainly not to say that Captain Marvel is the first female character that’s worth rooting for.

From Black Widow to Gamora, to the Wasp, the MCU still has a long list of female heroes who have been key players since the start of their respective franchises. Not to mention the powerful women who the heroes have also found themselves facing off against throughout their time on the big screen, such as Nebula, Hela, and Ayesha, just to name a few.

But surely some of these characters would make better wife material than others. While at first thought it might be cool to have a wife with awesome powers, that doesn't necessarily mean they'd always make the best partners. Which is likely why many of the MCU heroes — be it male or female — have remained unmarried for so long.

So let’s consider for a moment which if these Marvel beauties would actually be worth marrying to find the perfect match!

Question 1

Black Widow

Easily the most prominent female character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, Black Widow has been a part of the franchise since nearly the beginning. The character first appeared in 2010’s Iron Man 2, where she was revealed to be an undercover agent working for Nick Fury who was sent to keep tabs on Tony Stark. She went on to become a founding member of the Avengers in the 2012 film, and she has been a vital asset to the team of superheroes ever since (Wikipedia).

Question 2

Gamora

Being the adopted daughter of Thanos, Gamora was bound to play a big role in Avengers: Infinity War. But that still left a ton of MCU fans stunned when the Mad Titan ended up sacrificing her in order to obtain the Soul Stone. However, the filmmakers have already confirmed that Gamora is indeed still alive within the stone, meaning she will likely make a reappearance in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. But whether she’ll survive this latest installment is still anyone’s guess (Wikipedia).

Question 3

Captain Marvel

With Captain Marvel only recently making her MCU debut, many fans may have not yet gotten a chance to see this character shine on the big screen. The character is portrayed by Brie Larson in the film, who previously appeared in critical and commercial hits such as The Spectacular Now, Kong: Skull Island, and 2015’s Room — which ended up earning her the Academy Award for Best Actress. Larson is already expected to appear as Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame (Wikipedia).

Question 4

Valkyrie

Being one of the strongest characters in the MCU, many wondered exactly where Valkyrie had run off to during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The Asgardian made her debut in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, where she helped the God of Thunder escape from Sakaar, while also aiding him in rescuing their people. While she seemed conveniently MIA for Infinity War, the filmmakers have confirmed that she escaped with half of the Asgardians when Thanos attacked their ship, meaning she is likely to reappear at some point (Wikipedia).

Question 5

Scarlet Witch

At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, we seemed to get our first glimpse at just how great Scarlet Witch’s powers really are. Though the character was a mutant in the comic books, Scarlet Witch’s origins had to be changed to appear in the MCU, as 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the X-Men. So instead, her powers have been granted to her by the Mind Stone in this shared universe. That has given Scarlet Witch the distinct ability to get at an Infinity Stone while also holding back Thanos in the process (Wikipedia). Sound like wife material to you?

Question 6

Pepper Potts

Pepper Potts is one-half of the longest-running relationships in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From the first trailer of Avengers: Endgame, we’ve already seen Tony Stark giving a heartfelt goodbye speech to his longtime girlfriend, though we hope that certainly isn’t how things really end. While Pepper Potts started out as Tony’s personal assistant, she’s grown a lot throughout the course of the franchise, even making her way up to the CEO of Stark Industries (Wikipedia). So would you be as taken with Pepper as Tony is?

But we have a feeling she’ll be back soon (Wikipedia).

Question 8

Jane Foster

Though she seemed at one point to be Thor’s true love, there doesn’t seem to be any plans for Jane Foster to make an appearance in the MCU anytime soon. In Thor: Ragnarok, we learn that she decided to break things off with the God of Thunder because he was spending too much time away from Earth. But with her high intelligence and long list of scientific achievements, we’re sure Jane Foster is doing just fine. She may even be back on the market. So do you think Jane would make a good wife?

Question 9

Hela

Hela certainly doesn’t seem like the type who would be willing to tie the knot. She’s not one for wanting to share her power with others after all. But had she ever decided to settle down, being married to this Asgardian goddess would certainly come with its fair share of perks. Hela’s powers are greater than most, as she is almost single-handedly able to take over Asgard. In fact, the only way Thor and Loki are able to defeat her was by bringing about Ragnarok (Wikipedia).

She is portrayed by actress Leslie Bibb, who is partners with fellow Iron Man 2 actor Sam Rockwell in real life (Wikipedia).

One of the most notable was that of Bruce’s relationship with Betty Ross. While General ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross does eventually make his way back onto the scene, his daughter never even gets a mention.
