Not Even Thanos Could Pass This Avengers Quiz!

Who does not like The Avengers? Really though? If there is anyone here who actually does not like The Avengers then I think they may have clicked on the wrong quiz. There is something about this unconventional and uncanny group of superheroes that just has something for everyone to smile and cry about. The lives, loves, and losses of this group are pretty intense in a number of ways and while that can't really be wholly reflected in a quiz, it will be interesting to see just how close everyone has paid attention to The Avengers films.

SPOILER ALERT! If anyone here has not yet seen Avengers: Infinity War, then they must first go out and experience that marvel of a movie (pun intended) and come back to take this quiz with that fresh in their minds. The reason for this is because, even though we are pretty sure not even Thanos could pass this quiz about The Avengers, we are hoping beyond hope that some fans here might just be able to make their way through.

All of that being said, let's just assume that we're all taking on Thanos with this quiz and just to spur everyone on, the more questions each person misses, the closer Thanos comes to taking hold of the fully functional Infinity Gauntlet and exacting his master plan.

Time to Hulk smash this quiz!

Question 1

Name this villain/hero!

Indeed, this guy is most certainly both hero and villain. It really depends on which film and at what point in each film we are talking about. This character has a real way with causing mischief and it sometimes works quite to his benefit and the benefit of others...and then it quite often works against both he and the ones he finds himself caring about (if anyone believes for sure that he does care). He is a pretty key character when it comes to the story arc of the Avengers films. From the very beginning, he is certainly quite the trickster.

Question 2

What is Iron Man's real name?

This should be a pretty easy one. After all, without this superhero, the rest of the Avengers just actually don't happen. And this has nothing to do with picking favorites when it comes to the Avengers. No, this has much more to do with the fact that it was the Iron Man films that really kicked off the resurgence of the Marvel superhero films. So it should be pretty easy to know this character well. And considering just how many times everyone else uses his name in each and every film...this is practically a giveaway. He is the highest-paid Avenger after all.

Question 3

Name the Maximoff Twins!

These two are probably two of the coolest characters in the entire series and it is just too bad that they were not used to their full potential. Well, at least one of them wasn't, for sure, since he hardly made it to the end of the one and only film that he appeared in. Avengers: Age of Ultron was a great way to introduce the children of Magneto (who we wish could also show up in the films) it's just too bad they both didn't stick around longer. Don't get us wrong, we do realize that one of them gets to fight the Infinity War.

Question 4

Which Avenger is Wanda Maximoff?

Unlike her brother, Wanda is used to realizing quite a bit of her potential. She is probably one of the most powerful of all the Avengers and short of being an actual god, like at least two of the characters in the series, she has powers beyond comprehension. This makes her both a very interesting and a sort of worrisome character. After all, when the rest of the Avengers team discover Wanda, she is not on their side and she really plays around with their minds. She makes them see all sorts of things and she is really good at being bad.

Question 5

What is Black Widow's real name?

The Black Widow, played by the lovely Scarlett Johannsen is certainly one of the most exciting characters because of the way she uses her skills and how enticing her methods are. She lures people in and then goes about dismantling them the best way she can. And she is certainly good at her job. Sure, eventually she does see the error of her contractual ways and focuses more on saving the world than lining her pockets but that still doesn't change just how good she is at her job. Sure, she has a lot of red in her ledger, but that is certainly not debt.

Question 6

What is the alter ego of Pietro Maximoff?

Although Pietro Maximoff was not in the Avengers films for very long, he was still a pretty important part of the victory that the group of superheroes shared at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It is too bad that he could not really share in the victory and it is too bad that they didn't see the full potential his character could have had in future films, but it's over with now so there's not much to be done. If only his father, Magneto, had shown up to save him. That would have been an amazing film moment.

Question 7

While inside Stark Towers who did Hulk say "Puny God" to?

This is probably one of the more hilarious scenes from the first Avengers film. There is a moment when The Hulk goes out of his way to grab a god and just smack him around like he is nothing but a damp rag. He bashes the "puny god" into the floor at Stark Towers several times and this actually causes the floor to give way and cave to some extent. It is pretty ridiculous but also led to some of the biggest laughs in the entire film. Watching a cinema crowd roar at this moment is a pretty special experience.

Question 8

Which of the following Avengers is not in the movies?

First and foremost here, it has to be known that there are quite a few Avengers out there and not all of them made it into the movies...not by a long shot. There have been superheroes who have joined up with the Avengers for nothing more than a single comic book issue. Sometimes only for a few panels of a comic book. The Avengers, in the comic book world, has a pretty big revolving door policy. So, that being said, which of these following Avengers was not in the movies? This should be fairly obvious, though we say so ourselves.

Question 9

What is Hulk's real name?

The Hulk is a pretty nutty character, to say the least. All that really has to happen is the genius who gave himself too much gamma radiation in the first place (without the whole spider thing) has to get mad or too stressed and suddenly there is this hulking green giant running around and breaking things. It is pretty remarkable. Obviously, this is used to the advantage of the Avengers, even though this guy never wanted this life. And it turns out that he, at least at some points, can control when he goes full beast mode. Good to know!

Question 10

Who is the only Avenger who is able to budge Thor's hammer?

This is a pretty interesting one. After all, there have actually been a good number of people, even just in the films, who have tried to lift Thor's hammer. The whole point of the hammer is that there is only one person who can wield it. Realistically, according to the comics, it is more about someone being worthy, more than someone being Thor. This is mentioned briefly in the films just before the hammer is actually moved slightly by one of the other Avengers...who is it? Each Avenger could have a justification as to why they might be worthy, but it only works for one of them.

Question 11

Who does Captain America call "Earth's best defender"?

Considering the sort of intense rivalry that seems to grow and grow throughout the Avengers series, it is pretty impressive that Cap has the ability to honestly say just who he thinks is the Earth's best defender. It is very good of him to be able to admit this as well since everyone sort of holds the Captain up to being the ideal hero for the U.S. and the rest of the world. Of course, neither of the superheroes in question here would be able to make it through without the other. It is a marvel (pun intended) to watch this guy face off against Cap.

Question 12

Name Thor's father!

Well, this should be a pretty easy one. And to be straight up here, no one has to have actually seen any of the previous Thor movies in order to know the answer to this. It is brought up more than once in the Avengers films. Aside from that though, it is pretty cool that Anthony Hopkins was the one to take on the role of Thor's father. There is something about so classic an actor playing such a fabled role in a superhero movie that just makes us smile. Both the character and the actor are fairly legendary in their own ways.

Question 13

What does Thanos use to accomplish his plan?

Thanos has many tools at his disposal and, at least for the first couple of films, those tools come in the forms of many other villains he likes to pit against the Avengers while he sits back on the sidelines, in the shadows, waiting for his time to shine. That being said, there is a pretty significant tool that he comes to possess at a certain point in the film series and it is truly something to behold. To be fair, he has this tool for some time before he actually gets to use it to its full potential. What is it?

Question 14

Name Tony Stark's girlfriend!

Well, who doesn't like Gwyneth Paltrow? Who doesn't want to try some Goop? All jokes aside though, we are pretty sure that Paltrow does a fairly effective job playing the role of Tony Stark's assistant, then girlfriend, then boss, then...well, the point is made, we think. Either way, this character most certainly has a name and we find this out very early on in the Iron Man films, for sure. In the Avengers films, it might take a bit longer before her name is mentioned but that doesn't change the fact that it is. And it is a pretty memorable name also.

Question 15

Which Avengers don't actually possess powers or physical alterations?

Now, here's the thing. There will be some people who think that this question is just not fair because some could make justifications for a few of the Avengers when it comes to whether or not they have any powers other than their genius minds. However, that is why we also specify "physical alterations" as well. There are a few Avengers who do not have really any powers at all, but they have some sort of physical alteration that allows them to live a certain way or do a certain thing...so which of them goes without any of that? Anyone?

Question 16

When Iron Man is struck by Thor's lightning what happens?

This is actually a pretty cool scene, even though we might be a little biased here when it comes to just how epic both Thor and Iron Man are. Either way, these two, before joining up as Avengers, end up fighting each other over Loki and just what is to be done with him. Of course, Thor is a god and Iron Man...well, he is just a man in a suit (that is certainly not made of iron). So when Thor strikes Iron Man with his lightning...just what could possibly happen? The result is at least pretty, no matter what directly happens.

Question 17

Who made a handle for Thor's new ax called Stormbreaker?

First of all, we think it is a pretty important thing here to point out just how awesome Thor's new piece is. Sure, the hammer was pretty cool and certainly iconic but this sort of God Of War-styled ax is pretty awesome. And considering just what he can do with it when he faces off against the villainous forces in Wakanda, it is pretty clear that he has gained quite a bit of power. He just smashes through swathes of enemies with a single swipe. He also gained a pretty gnarly new handle for his ax as well. Who gave it to him?

Question 18

Before Thanos offed Heimdall, where did he send Hulk?

It is actually too bad that Heimdall does not make it all the way through the films but considering just how close to the end of the Avengers series this all happened, it makes perfect sense that a minor character trying to be a gatekeeper might end up losing to the supervillain who is rampaging across galaxies in order to bring peace to the universe. This one just seems pretty obvious. But more to the point, Heimdall sends The Hulk somewhere before it all goes bad...where does he go? Keep in mind this could be anywhere in the world...or even the universe!

Question 19

Which hero gets "officially" inducted into the Avengers by Tony Stark during Avengers: Infinity War?

We have to be totally honest here when we say that this is one of the coolest moments in the entire Avengers series but it is also followed by a pretty heartbreaking moment later on in the film. Tony Stark goes out of his way to make this particular superhero, a real life Avenger. Then, by the end of the film that very same new and spry Avenger ends up fading away with the snap of Thanos' fingers. It really is an intense moment. And considering just how little screen time the character had previous to that, it really is sad in several ways.

Question 20

What happens when Hulk tries to lift Thor's hammer when they fight on the helicarrier?

This is a pretty hilarious scene and it is a wonder that The Hulk even thinks to try for the hammer. It seems that Bruce Banner pretty much fully goes away and any trace of that previous genius just vanishes when The Hulk takes over. That is beside the point though. More importantly, when The Hulk is battling it out with Thor (which it seems everyone does at some point or another) what is it that happens when he tries to lift up the epic Norse hammer? After all, The Hulk is one of the nuttiest and strongest of all the characters!

Question 21

What is Hawkeye's special ability?

Hawkeye is a pretty cool character, especially when one considers the fact that he really has no special powers. Sure, he has a good sense of direction and he has some pretty good eyesight but these are not actually enhanced in any way like Tony Stark's heart or Peter Parker's gamma-radioactive spider talents. Clint Barton (AKA Hawkeye) is actually just a regular, everyday, normal guy...who just happens to possess certain skills and a certain gadget that really amplifies those skills to the ninth degree. This makes for some pretty awesome film moments that really helps to push the notion that this character can hold his own.

Question 22

What is Captain America's real name?

This should be a pretty easy one, especially if everyone did their proper research and not only saw all of the Avengers films but also watched all of the Cap movies. I mean, they do heavily involve the rest of the Avengers anyway so it makes perfect sense to do so. Beyond that, this guy's real name is definitely used more than once in just the Avengers films, so there is really no excuse to not know this one. He is pretty important to the group after all. He is essentially the moral glue that keeps the group together in the end.

Question 23

Of all the heroes, only one of them is not of Earth. Who is it?

This should be a pretty simple one. Especially when I specify that we mean of all the heroes depicted in this accompanying photo. Of all the original Avengers (and why not let's throw Spider-Man into the mix as well), there is only one of them who did not come from the planet Earth. Now we can only hope that there are people wracking their brains wondering just which of the original Avengers is an alien. Well, all we can say is that the answer is pretty obvious. We are very interested to see if people guess an alien character or not...

Question 24

Which Avenger was overseeing the Tesseract at the start of the first film?

In the very first Avengers film, there is a superhero who the wide general audience probably knew very little about. Sure, he seemed like a bit of a counter to the Black Widow character but he was not really anything of any note. That was made worse when he was suddenly taken control of while he was looking after the Tesseract. This led him to become a bit of a villain for a while before he literally had the mind control beat out of him. And that was a pretty cool scene with Black Widow, for sure...like most scenes with her.

Question 25

Where is Captain America when he is first shown in the films?

It has to be pointed out here that we do not mean where the Captain was when he first appeared in any of the Marvel films. Remember, this quiz is specific to the Avengers. So we mean to ask just where Cap was when he was first shown, fully functional, in the Avengers film series. It is a pretty iconic scene as it shows off just how powerful the Captain really is, since he was turned into a super soldier by the government, way back in the 40s. Considering his power, it is amazing just how moral this guy is.

Question 26

During the fight on the planet Titan, who is the only one who is able to wound Thanos?

Thanos is a pretty big brute of a man...or alien. Whatever. The point being, he is not a weakling by any stretch of the imagination. He is certainly the most powerful villain that any of the Avengers has ever faced. And it is no surprise that pretty well no one can hurt him. Especially when it is pretty obvious that he harnesses almost all the power of the universe, This is the benefit of having something as powerful as the Infinity Gauntlet, laden with almost all of its stones. Thanos is a character that Darkseid would struggle to fight, for sure. What a great crossover idea for a movie!

Question 27

What is the blue glowing square that Loki uses for power?

This is a very special cube that actually has contained within it more power than we are pretty sure any of the Avengers actually realized. When the group of superheroes first comes across this item or this device, they do not see what the ultimate goal with it is. They understand it can definitely be used against them and the rest of the world, but they don't quite realize what it will be harnessed into when it comes to completing a very intense end game. However, we don't want to know what it might become or what it might contain. We want to know what it's called.

Question 28

What is the name of Stark's A.I. helper?

This is probably one of the coolest non-character characters of the entire series. Obviously, this character started out as early as the first Iron Man film and while it does not take any physical form (at least not until Avengers: Age of Ultron), it is still responsible for saving the life of Tony Stark on many more than just one occasion. Voiced by the famed Paul Bettany, there is something about the reserved and polite quality of this A.I. that just warms everyone's heart while making them laugh. This is a great character that many were sad to see go when Stark's A.I. transformed.

Question 29

What is the name of Hawkeye's wife?

Realistically, this might just be the hardest of all the questions on this quiz. Everything else is pretty well about an Avenger directly, or about a very important item that is used for or against the team of superheroes. We even talk about the villains and supervillains in the film but considering just how little screen time Hawkeye's wife gets in the entire Avengers series, this could very reasonably and understandably be the hardest of all the questions. Be thankful, though, that this is not the regular difficulty for all the other questions! Otherwise, there would really be no way for people to pass!

Question 30

Who has a set of collector edition Captain America trading cards?

Alright, this is actually both very adorable and very sad. There is a character in the first Avengers film who happened to be a kid when the great and noble Captain was doing right by the U.S. before he was frozen in the ocean. Because of this, the particular character in question had a set of Captain America collector edition trading cards which he kept with him all this time and showed off to the Avengers at a certain point in the film...before he was taken out by Loki. These cards were actually partially instrumental, in unifying the Avengers for real.

Question 31

What is Hawkeye's real name?

This guy might not be the most popular of all the Avengers and he might not yet have his own film (and he may never) but that does not change the fact that he is still a pretty integral part of the entire Avengers plot line. He shares quite a deep storyline with the Black Widow and, in addition to that, he is also one of the few Avengers who happens to have a sort of secret life in the form of his wife and ranch, which he hopes to keep safe...But is anything or anyone safe from the powers these guys fight?

Question 32

Who goes to retrieve Bruce Banner from his isolation?

At a certain point through the previous films before the Avengers series, Bruce Banner goes into hiding for some pretty good reasons. He is not only afraid of what people may want but he is afraid of just what he may do if he does not like what people may want. Of course, being a genius, he picks a pretty unlikely place and he continues doing his research, in hopes that he might find a cure of some sort for what ails him. That or he just planned on living away from stress the rest of his life. Good luck...

Question 33

At the beginning of Avengers: Age of Ultron, who calls Tony out for swearing?

This is pretty ridiculous. I mean, we can't swear on this site but that is just because this is a more civilized place for people to come and show off their random trivia knowledge...or for them to learn more random trivia knowledge. It is pretty funny that one of the Avengers, considering just what they are all going through, might chastise a fellow Avenger for swearing. They are facing off against the most powerful villains in the world and perhaps the universe as well...so who gave Tony crap for swearing? Was it someone just tired or Tony? Or someone with a bit of sensitivity?

Question 34

Who here is NOT a member of Thanos' Black Order in the films?

The Black Order is a group of some pretty creepy and sinister-looking creatures who love nothing more than to go out of their way to make people feel pain. Their main focus, of course, is tormenting the Avengers, but they really don't mind if someone gets in the way of the havoc they are wreaking all over the world. Some of them have some pretty cool powers that make Avengers: Infinity War, way more interesting than it might have otherwise been. So, which of the following were not in the films? This should be easy enough considering how memorable they were.

Question 35

What is the being that Ultron creates and Thor brings to life with his hammer?

Ultron, featured in the photo here is one of the more formidable foes that the Avengers face in the earlier days of their team. The whole creation of Ultron was a pretty nutty thing that was partially the fault of Tony Stark. That being said, it is also one of Tony Stark's inventions that ends up being added onto by Ultron and hammered to life by Thor that creates one of the coolest of all the Avengers, while completely ridding the world of Ultron. And the way in which this character really goes head-to-head with the ultimate bad guy in this film is just awesome.

Question 36

Where did Natasha Romanoff find Bruce Banner?

When Natasha Romanoff (AKA The Black Widow) goes out of her way to find Bruce Banner so that she can recruit him to the Avengers Initiative, she must go searching in a place that is actually not all that remote and is certainly, not by any stretch of the imagination, stress free. Which is pretty bizarre considering that his whole shtick is that he has to keep away from stressful situations and from getting angry, lest he lose his mind and go beast mode on everyone. Somehow hiding in a busy place seemed to work for him...for a while anyway.

Question 37

What is Stan Lee doing in Avengers: Infinity War?

Ah, the late and most certainly great Stan Lee. It is too bad that he passed before the final chapter of The Avengers was released. We cannot help but wonder if he will still make an appearance in the film nonetheless. After all, they used CGI to put Carrie Fisher into the Star Wars films...we just hope that they actually shot something with him in it for that final chapter. Either way, everyone who watches these Marvel films should know that Stan Lee appears in every single one. So, what is he doing when he appears in Avengers: Infinity War?

Question 38

How many Avengers are there in the first Avengers film?

Obviously, the photo that goes along with this question features characters who were not in the first film...some of them were not even in the second film, to be fair. It's not like we are going to make it just as easy as counting the number of characters in a photo. This actually should be pretty easy though, without any visual prompts. Just think back to the original Avengers in the first film and how they all came together, however unlikely, to save the world. It started out as a pretty hilarious buddy-hero-comedy and has now transformed into an epic drama.

Question 39

What is Agent Coulson's first name?

Agent Coulson is one of the key characters of the very first Avengers film. He is pretty well the reason that the group of miscreant superheroes is even called The Avengers in the very first place. He is the person they go on to avenge, at least in that first film. Of course, this is rendered a little pointless later on when it turns out, in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., that he is actually alive the whole time. Either way though, this guy still plays a pretty important role. He keeps the group together even when he's not there. What's his name?

Question 40

When Tony Stark is threatening Loki and going through the Avengers roll call what is he doing?

This scene is pretty cool for a couple of reasons. First off, it is actually pretty cool to see both Tony Stark and Loki facing off. There is something about this god going up against this human who just happens to be a super genius that really makes this scene play well. Secondly, the way in which Stark manages to keep himself calm, cool and collected is just wonderful and that is emphasized by what it is that he is doing while taking on Loki. As always, Tony Stark manages to put a bit of class into something he does that's a little crass.

Question 41

Who in Wakanda was the first person to dissolve in Avengers: Infinity War?

Oh, the very ending of Avengers: Infinity War is just heartbreaking in so many ways. Everyone is trying so hard to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from the hand of Thanos and they really do almost manage to succeed but, of course, since there is another film coming out, they had to give this win to Thanos. The cost of giving up the win, though, is the loss of half the people across the planet. This includes, obviously, a good portion of the team from the Avengers...That being said, who is the first person at ground zero in Wakanda to fade away?

Question 42

What villain from a previous movie returns in Avengers: Infinity War?

It is actually pretty cool to see villains come back when everyone thinks that they are done and over with. This also happens with superheroes but it is just not as cool. The main reason for this is because we all expect the hero to come back, pretty well no matter what. However, when a villain is taken out, most people just expect that he or she is just done and there is nothing they can do to come back on the scene to wreak more havoc. But, given the nature of The Avengers films, the villains just don't stop coming!

Question 43

Who goes inside one of the flying Leviathan Chitauri creatures?

This is a pretty cool scene, we have to admit. There is something very strange about these giant creatures but something really cool about one of the Avengers just going for it and jumping into one of these things to try and bring it down from the inside. Considering just how much chaos these things seem to cause as they fly around the city streets, it makes perfect sense that the heroes pull out all of the stops in order to get a solid go at one of these Leviathans. And considering that go has to do with just traipsing through one of these things...that's just so cool.

Question 44

Who slays the final Ultron robot?

Ultron was one of the coolest villains in the Avengers film series, that is for sure. He could just inhabit a whole army of robots because Ultron himself was pretty well nothing more than a genius supercomputer which allowed the character to adapt to combat strategy and take on all sorts of different forms. Hacking into whatever computers and jumping into the forms of different robots he created...he was just a really cool character who seemed to just keep coming back...until this character came onto the scene. The character who finishes off the last Ultron bot is way cooler than Ultron himself, for sure.

Question 45

Who does Loki try to mind control but can't because he can't touch the heart of this person?

We do have to admit that it is a little bit strange that for Loki to actually be able to control the mind of someone, he must use the Tesseract to take over the person's heart first. That does seem a little bit out of place, but who are we to question the great works of Marvel when they are pulling in billions every year? Either way, there is a character that Loki just can't seem to manipulate because he just can't manage to get at the heart of the character. Is this because the character doesn't have a heart?

Question 46

Whose final words are, "We have a Vision problem"?

There are a few times when there seems to be a little bit of a Vision problem. Vision might be one of the coolest of all the characters in the Avengers series but that does not change the fact that he is also one of the most dangerous and considering that he wields one of the Infinity Stones on his forehead, this also makes him a pretty big target for every villain out there working for Thanos. Which leads to the pivotal line, "We have a Vision problem"...Who can recall who had these final words about Vision? Anyone at all?

Question 47

What do the Avengers get at the final post-credit scene in the first film?

A little bit of extra info on this post-credits scene...take a close look at the Captain's jaw and one might see what looks like a bit of a scar. That is not actually the case. The reality here is that Chris Evans was shooting another film and could not shave his beard, so they had to build him a new prosthetic jaw to cover up his real face, meaning he could not actually enjoy what it is that the Avengers got in this scene. That being said, they did a pretty decent job covering everything up here. Kudos to the makeup team!

Question 48

What is the Winter Soldier's real name?

The Winter Soldier, at least until he ended up without his mask, is one of the coolest characters in the Avengers. However, once he loses the mask, his baby face just makes him look much less convincing as a villain. And considering that the Winter Soldier does end up fighting for the side of good before going back to the bad guys before coming back to the side of good again, it is no surprise that this character has a bit of a baby face. But what's his actual name? Unlike his allegiance, his name does not seem to change.

Question 49

What does J.A.R.V.I.S. stand for?

J.A.R.V.I.S. is certainly one of the best characters in the whole Avengers series. He is probably one of the cooler characters in the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe, if we're being honest. Just think about it for a moment. This artificial intelligence that Tony Stark just programmed on his own is able to do so many things at once while doing it with a wonderful accent that makes pretty well everyone laugh at so many moments, it is awesome. Not to mention just what character J.A.R.V.I.S. becomes. Vision is a wonderfully realized and physical version of J.A.R.V.I.S. which is so cool!

Question 50

How many Avengers films are currently out?

This should be a pretty easy question to end the quiz on but that really depends on just how much people have been paying attention. After all, there are so many films out there in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that it might be hard to focus on. And considering that the Avengers do all cross over into each other's films at one point or another, that might make this question even more difficult than first thought. That all being said, there is a very clear answer...at least until Avengers: End Game comes out! And who here is just losing their mind waiting for that film!?
