We've all seen a chick flick or two (or more!). But what is a chick flick really someone might ask! According to Wikipedia "[A] chick flick is a slang term used for the film genre dealing mainly with love and romance which is targeted to a female audience." That may be true, but there are some great romantic comedies or dramas that pretty much everyone likes!
Think of films like When Harry Met Sally, (1989) The Reader, (2008) Gone With The Wind, (1939) A Walk To Remember, (2002) Breakfast At Tiffanys, (1961) Sixteen Candles, (1984) Pretty In Pink, (1986) Bridget Jones' Diary (and its sequels!) and many more! All of these are classics, and even if we find them to be somewhat cheesy at times, we're glad they're out there!
After all, even though these films might have an unrealistic take on love at times, they are great for moments that we need to cheer ourselves up and believe that there is true love out there (and always will be!). Sure, guys don't come outside our windows holding a boombox over their heads, but hey crazier things have happened!

We’re talking about a movie that stands out because it doesn’t follow the typical arc of the Rom Com genre. The guy doesn’t get the girl, and that is fine because some times in life that’s the ending of a story. We witness Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) as they pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend, and then eventually fall in love for real. Starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Kate Walsh and Dylan McDermott we can see one of the reasons the film is so good: it has great cast members! During an interview for Movie Clips Coming Soon, Emma Watson was asked about her opinion on the book this film was based on. She said: “there’s no way that you can read this book having gone through high school experiences, or even the experience of being a teenager without being able to relate to the experiences of at least one of those characters” and we couldn’t agree more! They play Dean and Cindy a couple that we follow as they meet, they fall in love, get married, have a kid and then slowly get separated as they no longer have that initial spark and connection. When Ryan Gosling was asked during an interview for ScreenSlam what he liked most about this film, he said: “I really thought that the film was kind of shining a light on aspects of being in a relationship that often get skirted over in films, so I thought it was a neat opportunity to explore those things” and he couldn’t be more right!
